HC Alkaloid claimed their second win of 2026 with an away performance against HC Eurofarm Pelister 2 in Bitola, maintaining their position at the top of the standings.

The outcome was effectively decided early. After just ten minutes, HC Alkaloid had built a five-goal lead (7-2), thanks to outstanding defensive play that generated numerous fast-break opportunities, accounting for more than half of their early goals.

The contest was more balanced in the following ten minutes, but HC Alkaloid raised the tempo again in the final stages of the first half. A 12-8 lead in the 20th minute quickly expanded to 17-8 by the 24th minute, with halftime arriving at 20-12. Just three minutes into the second half, HC Alkaloid had extended their lead to double digits (22-12), with a 5-0 run at the start of the period making it 25-12. The margin fluctuated between ten and thirteen goals until the final whistle, with the match ending 36-22.

Ulfar Monsi Þordarsson was HC Alkaloid’s top scorer with eight goals, followed by Nenad Kosteski with five. Goalkeeper Marko Kizikj recorded 12 saves, while Ivan Galevski added eight.

In the upcoming round on Friday, HC Alkaloid will face HC Struga as the away team, although the match will take place in the Avtokomanda arena in Skopje.

HC Alkaloid opened their 2026 campaign with a league victory over HC Prolet 62, extending their winning streak ahead of the final three rounds of the first phase of the season.

The hosts were without national team players Marko Mitev, Martin Serafimov, Ivan Djonov, Marko Stojkovic, and Nenad Kosteski. This allowed more minutes for David Trajkoski, Aleksandar Petkovski, and Damjan Mitev, while left-handed back Filip Nikolov made his debut in the blue-and-white jersey following his winter transfer.

Filip Nikolov scored his first goal in the sixth minute to give HC Alkaloid their first lead of the match (4-3). The score was tied at 6-6 in the 10th minute, before goals from Gjorgiev, Borzas, and Damjan Mitev gave the hosts their first significant advantage at 9-6.

The difference ranged between two and four goals until halftime, which ended 17-14.

HC Alkaloid entered the second half with greater focus and gradually increased their lead. In the 35th minute they were ahead by six (21-15), and five minutes later the margin grew to eight (24-16). In the 44th minute, Filip Nikolov’s sixth goal secured the first double-digit lead of the match at 28-18.

The home side’s largest advantage was 34-23 before the visitors responded with a 4-0 run to reduce the deficit.

In the next round, HC Alkaloid will travel to Bitola to face HC Eurofarm Pelister 2.

HC Alkaloid have resumed preparations for the continuation of the Super League campaign, entering the decisive phase of the season in which they will compete in the Playoffs and pursue both the championship title and the Cup trophy.

A significant number of HC Alkaloid’s players recently competed for the Macedonian national team at the European Championship, where the team secured a Top 16 finish and delivered performances in line with expectations.

Meanwhile, those without national team duties trained in Skopje, joined by a new addition to the squad.

Right back Filip Nikolov has signed for HC Alkaloid and will be available to head coach Kiril Lazarov. At the same time, Mihail Ivanoski, who also plays at right back, has moved to Slovenia for the remainder of the season.

“It’s a situation we are familiar with after major tournaments, returning to club commitments, and regaining our rhythm. We have many national team players who are already in competitive shape, and as I’ve said, we understand the process of transitioning from national to club duties.

Our focus is on what is to come, the closing rounds of the regular season and the start of the Playoffs. I’m satisfied with the condition of the players who stayed and completed the winter preparations with our fitness coach.

The national team players who competed at the European Championship are healthy, which is crucial. Those with more minutes are in stronger form, while we are working more intensively with the others. We are focused on the details and know exactly what needs to be done ahead of the League restart.

There is no time for special preparations, as we have just one week before competition resumes, so we are focusing on technical and tactical details.

Filip Nikolov is the new addition to the roster. He is a sound Macedonian player at an ideal age. I believe his playing style will make us stronger and more competitive, particularly in defense, and I expect his arrival to improve us by five to ten percent across all segments.

That is the only change, Ivanoski departed for Slovenia, and Nikolov has taken his place,” said head coach of HC Alkaloid, Kiril Lazarov.

Before the Playoffs begin, four additional rounds of the regular season remain. In their first match after the break, scheduled for February 7, HC Alkaloid will host HC Prolet 62.
