The Avtokomanda arena hosted the final derby of the opening phase in the Macedonian Super League, as HC Alkaloid faced HC Vardar 1961 in their last showdown before the start of the Playoff stage.
It was a hard-fought 60-minute contest determined by the slimmest of margins. The visitors took an early lead, gaining a slight edge in the initial exchanges. HC Alkaloid quickly regrouped, staying close on the scoreboard and applying consistent pressure throughout the first half.
The opening period ended with a narrow lead for the visitors. At the start of the second half, however, HC Alkaloid emerged sharper, seized the initiative and turned the game around, even building a two-goal cushion at 17-15. However, the absence of Martin Serafimov was compounded in the 37th minute when Igor Gjorgiev exited due to injury, disrupting the host’s rhythm, although the contest remained finely balanced all the way to the final possession.
In the closing minute, the visiting side had better luck and struck a decisive goal to seal the victory.
