HC Alkaloid recorded their fifth league win of the season, defeating CHC Tikvesh to maintain a perfect record in Macedonia’s top-flight competition.

The clash with the side from Kavadarci unexpectedly went down to the wire, but HC Alkaloid held their nerve in the closing stages to avoid an upset and preserve their unbeaten start.

HC Alkaloid made a strong start to the match, opening up a 3-1 lead before extending the advantage to 6-3. Тhe visitors fought their way back into the contest, however, leveling the score at 7-7. The response from Kiril Lazarov’s side was immediate, and just two minutes later HC Alkaloid were back in front by three goals at 10-7, once again taking control of the tempo.

The remainder of the first half unfolded on a goal-for-goal basis, with HC Alkaloid maintaining their edge and taking an 18-15 lead into the break.

The blue-and-whites also started the second half strongly, stretching their advantage to five goals in the 32nd minute (21-16). Five minutes later, the margin remained unchanged at 25-20, and by the 50th minute HC Alkaloid still held a comfortable 28-24 lead.

In the final ten minutes, however, HC Alkaloid made life difficult for themselves. Tikvesh pushed to get back into the game and capitalized on the hosts’ lapse in concentration, setting up a dramatic finish. A 3-0 run, launched in the 56th minute, saw the visitors draw level at 30-30 two minutes later.

Coach Kiril Lazarov called a timeout, and Alkaloid responded through Kosteski to restore the lead at 31-30. The hosts then stood firm in defense, denying Tikvesh a late equalizer and holding on for another important league victory.
